Recently, an Intertype machine from around 1934 is installed in the Media, Arts & Design faculty of the University College PXL (PXL) in Hasselt (BE)
Even in the graphic world the historical interest of this kind of machines is not always fully acknowledged. Nevertheless these machines were responsible for a faster setting of type from 1884 till around 1970 and they enabled publishing in an accelerated pace, resulting in a increased distribution of knowledge.
Because these machines almost totally disappeared, we decided to restore this machine into its original state. The Intertype located in PXL-MAD has been fully restored into working condition during the period 2014-2015.
